melissa + joseph's marfa, texas wedding

This one is so unique and a joy for me to share. I met Melissa Fitzerald and Joseph West in my previous career, working for Downtown Houston. I was so honored when they came to me for their wedding invitations, and I knew that we would come up with something that could only be for Melissa and Joe.  Before I get into stationery details... their story gives me some warm and fuzzies. The short version is that these two started out as friends and photographer buds. Fell in love with each other, inspired each other, fell in love with West Texas, got married...

ashley & garrett's gold, gray & blush letterpressed wedding invitations

Ashley and Garret were planning the most fabulous wedding and reception at Brazos Hall in the heart of downtown Austin. The turn-of-the century warehouse provided lots of inspiration for the invitations, as it's the quintessential example today's Austin, where old meets new with rustic wooden floors, exposed brick walls and sweeping rooftop views of the city.   For the invitation, we knew we wanted to capture the southern charm and incorporate modern aesthetics that make Austin unique. I started by hand-lettering their names to give the invitation a bold and playful look, and accented the rest of the text with...

If Marie Antoinette were to tie the knot in Texas, this would be her invitation...    For the invitation, we selected Crane's 100% cotton double-ply Lettra paper to achieve the best impression for letterpress printing and foil stamping. We used a dusty blue gray as the primary color, inspired by the muted tones of desert succulents and the bridesmaids dresses -- so chic!  The rich copper foil balanced out the lightness of the blue and was a subtle wink to the...

So you just got engaged... congratulations! Up next is a whirlwind of excitement, parties, and possibly stress as you plan a huge celebration of your commitment to love. My best advice for any couple planning a wedding is to make the choice to enjoy the process. Surround yourself with positive people. Ok, so we can’t choose our family, but we can choose the majority of the bridal party. It’s time to round up the most awesome group ever! If there’s a close friend who brings the drama, maybe he or she shouldn’t have a huge role on your wedding day....

andrea & matt's gold foil + navy wedding invitations

Andrea and Matt's wedding invitations were such a special project to work on. I've known the Matt since we were tiny tots, and I had a small part in introducing him to his lovely bride, Andrea. While I can't take any credit for their undeniable chemistry and oh-so-fun wedding, I was lucky enough to work with them on their wedding invitations. We took a little inspiration from the wedding venue, the 1926-built Julia Ideson Building, which now serves as a public library in downtown Houston. How perfect is her dress for a 20's-inspired soiree? The gown was even better in-person, dancing to...
