That face! It's no wonder our sweet friend, Miles got the nickname "Miles Smiles" from his parents... and even better than Jazz legend Miles Davis has an album called Miles Smiles, which created the most obvious invitation for little Miles's first birthday invitation.
Full disclosure: Miles's mommy is my dear friend, Ginny Lee and I love her son and his juicy lips. She came to me with the idea of a Miles Smiles Album invite and I had just the tools to pull it off: photoshop for that ridiculously cute face, glassine envelopes for our "record" sleeve and scissors to cute out the record -- easy, affordable and cute!
See below for supply list to create these on your own.
We didn't have to change much for the album cover - we dropped in our Miles's cute face and changed the text to Miles Lee quintet. The bright orange cover gave us a bright and punchy mid-century palette. These square white envelopes were the perfect size and shape for our album.
On the back of the invitation, I attached a square glassine envelope with double-sided tape, and inserted a hand-cut album inside the envelope. Black and white striped washi tape perfectly matched our graphic retro vibe.
For the envelope addressing, I brushed on a swatch of bright orange ink from Tombow's dual brush pens and hand-lettered guests' addresses in black.
