Early last year I had the tasty pleasure of collaborating with Torchy's Tacos to create its staff orientation invitations. I'll go ahead and admit that research for this project involved at least two trailer park tacos. How could a then-pregnant woman deny a taco with fried chicken in it? Instead of doing something boring, like call a staff meeting or send out an email, Torchy's invited its staff (via snail mail) to a super rad orientation weekend.  It was their idea send out something that had to be decoded, so we went with the classic "red reveal" method. Pancakes & Pajamas --literally two of my favorite things. When this project came to me, I was secretly annoyed that I hadn't been celebrating my birthday like this for the past 10 years.  For the invitation, we knew we wanted it to be fun, welcoming and to feature the birthday boy himself. I illustrated a little pancake character and bunny slippers that were used throughout the party. Graham's mom Ashley, a former event planner, left no detail overlooked. This bride came to me looking for custom cards to ask her bridal party to be a part of her wedding next year in Burgundy, France. The region is known for its beautiful sunflowers, so we incorporated vintage botanical flowers and french country plaids into the design.  When she told me she would include a box of macarons with her card and a cute turn of phrase, I knew I wanted to use glassine envelopes to give a nod to pretty pastries and floating confetti for additional whimsy. My biggest announcement yet... we welcomed sweet Charlie into this world on September 10, 2014. He was born such a little grumpster and like every new mama, I anxiously waited for him to smile at us. When I finally captured his first little coy smile, the wheels started turning for his baby announcement. I finally settled on gold foil stamped onto Stardream aquamarine paper with a matte mint envelope, and some of my current favorite fonts, Core Circus, Raleway and Melany Lane.
