I love the opportunity to work on rehearsal dinner invitation to keep the overall aesthetic cohesive with the rest of the collateral. For Hadley and Jayson's rehearsal dinner, we used their gorgeous gold foil and navy letterpress invitation as a guide. Instead of doing letterpress and foil, we flat-printed in shades of blue and went a little more bold with the typography. So you just got engaged... congratulations! Up next is a whirlwind of excitement, parties, and possibly stress as you plan a huge celebration of your commitment to love. Andrea and Matt's wedding invitations were such a special project to work on. I've known the Matt since we were tiny tots, and I had a small part in introducing him to his lovely bride, Andrea. I had the pleasure of working with my friend and jewelry designer Rannie Balias, to create a one-of-a-kind-wedding invitation inspired by the ceremony venue, James Turrell's Live Oak Friends Meeting in Houston, Texas.  Rannie and I share a love for Futura, the color grey, and neutral metallics. Thinking about Turrell's skyspace, it was important for light to interact with the invitation. We started with a square shape, mixing matte and metallic papers, with touches of geometric shapes throughout the suite. This bride was a dream client! An event planner, based in NYC, she had a good idea of what she wanted. Pretty, nautical-inspired invitations with a Maine moose sprinkled about. The moose is the magical beast of Maine's wildlife, and pretty close pronunciation of her new last name. How could we not? For the design, I embraced the geometrics of nautical flags throughout, steering clear of overdone anchors for a subtle nautical vibe.
