Andrea and Matt's wedding invitations were such a special project to work on. I've known the Matt since we were tiny tots, and I had a small part in introducing him to his lovely bride, Andrea. I wanted to refresh my personal stash of thank you notes again. Check out last year's set here. So, naturally I decided to turn it into a product for the shop! I played around with the Tombow pen brush again, just doing an exaggeration of my own handwriting and then thickening the downstrokes. For me, the key to coming out with good letters is to not overthinking perfection too much. This bride was a dream client! An event planner, based in NYC, she had a good idea of what she wanted. Pretty, nautical-inspired invitations with a Maine moose sprinkled about. The moose is the magical beast of Maine's wildlife, and pretty close pronunciation of her new last name. How could we not? For the design, I embraced the geometrics of nautical flags throughout, steering clear of overdone anchors for a subtle nautical vibe.
