Kennedy and Christopher were looking for classic Save the Dates with a little extra oomph. To give the cards a truly custom look, I mixed some hand-lettering with classic typography. Gold is still king! We had the design hot foil-stamped onto a textured Italian paper and framed out with Stardream's antique gold, with a matching liner to boot. Megan knew right off the bat she wanted charcoal gray and gold to be the main focus of her wedding invitations. I happily obliged, as it's one of my personal favorite neutral color combinations. The wedding itself would romantic and rustic, so we used Debi Sementelli's flirty Cantoni script to reflect that theme. I wanted to refresh my personal stash of thank you notes again. Check out last year's set here. So, naturally I decided to turn it into a product for the shop! I played around with the Tombow pen brush again, just doing an exaggeration of my own handwriting and then thickening the downstrokes. For me, the key to coming out with good letters is to not overthinking perfection too much. This bride was a dream client! An event planner, based in NYC, she had a good idea of what she wanted. Pretty, nautical-inspired invitations with a Maine moose sprinkled about. The moose is the magical beast of Maine's wildlife, and pretty close pronunciation of her new last name. How could we not? For the design, I embraced the geometrics of nautical flags throughout, steering clear of overdone anchors for a subtle nautical vibe. For the color palette, we started with crisp whites, and then sprinkled in sun-bleached ocean hues, kraft paper and touches of gold. Everything was bundled in kraft folder...
